TNA has been referred to as WCW 2.0 in some of their decisions over their past 9 years, but none may be more prominent than what we saw last night on iMPACT!
When Rob Van Dam debuted in TNA, the TNA fanbase was buzzing, and their stock began to rise. RVD would win the World Championship in April, and hold it until August when Abyss would tear RVD to shreds, sending him to the hospital, forcing the title to be vacated.
In October, Immortal's plan would come full circle as their center piece, Jeff Hardy would capitalize and win the World Heavyweight Championship. The newly dubbed "Anti-Christ" of Professional Wrestling even admitted to setting up his former best friend so Jeff Hardy could become the champion.
For the past several months, RVD has begun to fight through Immortal, including a lengthy battle with Jeff's brother Matt Hardy, all in order to gain his rightful shot at revenge against his former best friend, and a rightful shot at the World Championship he never lost.
However, instead of delivering this high-profile, well-built main event on a PPV, it was given away FOR FREE this past Thursday on iMPACT! So the question remains, did TNA blow a huge opportunity?

Absolutely. They could have built this into a HUGE feud. If this storyline happened in WWE, Jeff Hardy v. Rob Van Dam for the WWE Title would main event Wrestlemania. They could have made this a great feud leading to an amazing finale at Lockdown at least. And what's happening with RVD this week on iMPACT? If I'm not mistaken, he's in some triple threat match with Mr. Anderson and Kurt Angle. I hope this match determines the Number One Contender for the TNA Title. Last week's match should have been a non-title grudge match. Setting up a proper feud. Which would be continued with RVD winning the triple threat match this Thursday and becoming the Number One Contender. Now, I'm not saying I want this feud to happen. Because I don't. I want RVD nowhere near the TNA Title ever again. But it would make sense given their past.
